my theme is butterflie and frangipanis colours pink blue and purple. i live in australia and cant seem to find a great site to shop on. ineed table decorations and cheap chair covers prefer to buy not hire. have tried ebay but would like something more any suggestions please?

One of the best things to do depending on "when" and how soon the big day is, I recommend shopping off season, ie: if your wedding colors are green, hit the St. Patty day plates and cups in solid colors or X-Mas and Valentines as well. Dollar stores sometimes have great things for favors like little zen gardens etc. that are nice not tacky or candles, look for off season finds every where you go. Sometimes you will find something great where you least expect it.

Reply:Look in the phone book for a store that sells discount party supplies. I used to work at a place where there were so many people either getting married or having babies, I was always helping decorate for showers and receptions. I always got the best stuff at the "party store".

Reply:you can check most websites for the candles your looking for. And most come in pink and or white. check oriental trading compay, they have lots of bulk items and they are cheaper for your budget.
Reply:You can buy tealights by the bag at a craft store. They are really cheap.
Reply:We bought packs of 12 candles in votive holders at AC Moore when they went on sale. I think we paid $4 per pack of 12 for the candle and holder.

Check your local dollar store and discount store like Walmart. You may get lucky there.

Another inexpensive route to go would be to do votive holders decorated in your colors and theme, then use tealights inside. You can get tealights super cheap at places like Ikea or craft stores. I paid $5 for a bag of 100 at Ikea.

Reply:How about butterfly candles in the colors of your wedding for your tables? E-bay has vendors who sell brand new butterfly candles pretty reasonably. I just checked and after typing in "butterfly candles" there are several vendors with some really cute ones that come up.

I am getting married in Bali and have no idea what colours to have the bridesmaids wear, I have my heart set on frangipanis as my flowers and love the alfred angelo dresses http://www.alfredangeloanz.com/Collectio... I thought the green and pink would match but the girls dont like the idea of green. I would like them to wear something that they are happy with. Any suggestions!!

I'm not a particular fan of green, but that is a pretty dress and a pretty green . Does it come the other way around, pink with green accents? That would be pretty too.

A suggestion is to go multi color. Keep all the dresses at the same spot on the color wheel, but do a blue, a green, a yellow, a pink. And choose a style of dress, so they all still look like a wedding party.

We are assuming you mean the country Bali, and not like Bali, Arkansas. I'ts BALI, land of color. Check into some traditional colors of the country.

i would use those dresses, they are very pretty, i think you could still use the pink and green but maybe switch the colors so that it's more pink accented with the green. then your girls won't feel like they are wearing green as much. i know you can do this. or you could pick a neutral like a cream or white dress with pink accents or do two shades of pink.

My own wedding colors are cornflower and canary.

You could try having them wear the dress in pink with green accents.

I was going to have my MOH wear the same dress as the other bridesmaids, only in a different color. Only problem: the MOH is extremely busty and the dresses are strapless.

So, we compromised and we're trying to find a dress that is similar that has straps/halter top so she won't feel like she's falling out all day long.

If all else fails... it honestly is YOUR wedding. As long as the actual style of the dress is fine on them, then they may just have to suffer with a green dress. It's not like they're ever going to wear it again anyway!

It's your day. As long as you're not bridezilla constantly, you can insist on the things you think are important... IE, the color of the bridesmaids dresses.

My colors are pink and lime green. My girls are wearing black ann taylor dresses that can be worn again. Then we are tying a pink sash bought from Davids Bridal into the black sash. I am super stoked about it and I think it looks GREAT!! Good luck!

Pink %26amp; Green reminds me of sorority colors...if they are paying for their own dresses - they should have some say...but it's totally up to you on the the colors...I would us pink %26amp; have them carry pink flowers with greenery. Reply:If you want them to wear something they are happy with then you could ask them their opinion. I wouldn't necessarily take it if you do not like it but you could ask. If you don't like green but like the green and pink idea you could choose a teal color instead of plain green. That would still give you a great combination of colors (pink and teal) and still give you a greenish hint but without the green.

I dreamt that I was riding my bike in the place I grew up.

I remembered a street I used to ride down and remembered the place I fell off my bike and had gravel rash and ran home crying. I relived that moment and I could taste the gravel and remembered the shock.

Then I was living there again and had a husband. It was 10 years from now. I had 5 kids and my hubby wanted more and I wanted to please him.

I saw myself walking and holding a baby. I was another person who saw myself. And someone said that is "steve and alison's baby" meaning me and another guy I don't know.

I saw a street lined with frangipanis.

Then my husband was bashing me at home saying you know how demanding I get and if I want something I get it. Give me another baby. I said we have so many already. He said I want more.

Hello. I posted a question earlier but must not have been very clear.

I have plenty of frog pics and stuff off of the net but no access to my tattooist as he lives three hours away and I only see him at christmas time.And I cannot draw at all.

This time I would like to be able to go to him with a design already done .That is why I am looking for someone who can really design and draw.

I love frog tatts and have two already above my outer ankles. what I am after this time is a couple of frogs climbing up off of my foot and towards my inner ankle with leaves ect maybe a frangipani or two. I really like realistic looking tatts.

Anyone out there know how to draw? Anyone game?

Doesn't your artist have email? Couldn't you get him to design something by emailing him what you want? He may not email the design back to you unless you are a good customer that he knows well, but at least he would have the design done when you got there!
Reply:go to your tattoo artist.. a three hour drive isn't much. or just go into a shop and ask them if they could draw something for you and you'll pay them. it'll be easier in person so they could make sure the size is right and fits good with your body

I bought them from a scented candle shop and I have 2 that has frangipani scent which is fading. Is it possible to boost the scent myself and how would I do this. Thankyou.

Try scraping an area with an emery board, nail file or piece of sandpaper to see if that brings out the scent. If not, you need to soak them in essential oil again. Put essential il on them, then leave them in a closed container to absorb it for several days--maybe a week or 2.

Reply:I would just use some drops of cinnamon oil on them. You can buy it at a pharmacy.
Reply:you can get cinnamon oil and soak them in that. Then allow them to dry. Even as they are drying they will smell wonderful. I don't think you can eat them after putting the oil on it but I am not 100% sure of that.

There is nothing wrong with them all having the same flowers. I would assume the women's flowers will be bigger since they will be a corsage or wrist corsage instead of going in a buttonhole like the men.

Reply:Yes, of course it is. However, the corsage for the mother will be larger and fuller. Make sure the one for the groom stands out in some way - whether it's a bit larger than the groomsmen, or has a different filler flower/greenery, or ribbon.

(bridal party have white frangipanis, fathers have pink frangipanis and mothers have two frangipanis in their corsage - one white and one pink).

Unfortunatley there isn't the option of different sized blooms with Frangipanis like an almost open rose and a rosebud

Reply:Yes I love flowers. My favorite is one called a four o'clock. This flower is in a tubular shape for most of the day when it's closed but then in the afternoon at around 4 p.m. every day (if you have a lot of the flowers formed already for that day) they will open up. The face of the flower is shaped like a little star and they have a nice sweet smell to them. These flowers stay open all night long until early in the a.m. like around 7 a.m.

Our teacher is going to test us on this poem and I don't have a clue on it!! the words are beautiful, though... pity I don't know the meaning behind the poem.. TT

It is a part of "How the Hills are Distant:" by Wong Pui Nam.

Here it goes:

The mist drifting across the field

edges up the compound of my house,

along the foot of the hibiscus hedge

moving vaguely like fear among the cane.

I sit up to watch, as I have on many nights

from my darkness at the window,

my heart precise within these walls,

my room with its table and rumpled bed.

It is imminent; in the sudden smell

of wet grass and stir among the frangipani,

in the straight tensed fence-posts in half-light

against the margin of encroaching sleep

where I anticipate only, a waking

to vague remembrance of a harrowing in my dream.

Poetry and imagination are two inseparable things. Definitely, the words are beautiful, ask yourself what is the "atmosphere" they brought you, try to "sunk" into the meaning..Give a try!

Let me try to help you. First make an attempt to catch up the atmosphere. I think it is slightly melancholic, yet the signs of pure nature, like "hibiscus hedge", "frangipani" create a subtle taste of clarity, peacefulness and calmness. I don't think that the author's idea is to run or feel afraid of something that may afflict that perfect harmony..it is mostly a lament, a sketch that has seized him, might be a memory that reverberated in verses.

I would not tell with certitude that this poem is about nightmares, but the poem sets an inner conflict between "the peace of nature" and "the human stirring of mind"..

Reply:It could be about nightmares, or she hears noises out side that scares her so that she can't sleep. It could mean that someone comes to her and she is scared of that person. But, what I get from it is that she is awaken from a noise outside from someone or something and when the person comes to her she can smell the outdoors on them.
Reply:i think its saying that you need not be afriad of the world around and of the kind of world you visit in your dreams... that don't sit and wait for things to happen but to go out side the bix and make them happen... and you are right it is a beautiful poem.
Reply:Have you ever been beside the ocean and watch the fog roll in towards shore? On land you can see it moving towards you slowly covering the trees and moving along the road ways over the lawn and up to the house. The same way sleep comes on and the writer anticipates that when she wakes, she will only have a memory of a bad dream.
Reply:I think she is afraid to go to sleep because of nightmares that she may have. As I read it I got the impression that she has seen tragic events and is afraid to go to sleep as she will dream of them again. The setting of the poem with it's references to nature, smell, sight, feel would give you a feeling of peace yet there is an undercurrent of evil or fear.

Edit: I looked on the Wong Phui Nam and realized that he is male. I read several other poems contained the "How the Hills are Distant" collection and I get an overwhelming feeling of terror and violence from his poetry.

im thinking of getting a tatoo.i think i would chicken out just the pain factor but the pain you go under is only suttle for the amount of loving that you would have 4 the one you choose the rest of your lyf.I have heard from friends that the most pain in your body is right on the bone, is that true? also i wouldnt no what to get i love frangipani %26amp; butterfly but i think there a little bit corny having them.im 18 so im legal 2 have 1 i just gotta work out what would be nice.does any one have suggestions on nice tatoos? I got my first tattoo when I was 19. It was a purple tribal thorn design between my shoulder blades. A year later, I hated it! I have had it covered up with a Tibetan knot of life, which holds a lot of meaning for me. Since I learned my lesson with the first one, each tattoo I've added since then has been pondered for many months before I go through with it, just to be sure. Also, I use designs that signify something to me, for example, stars over the stretch marks I got on my belly when I had my son, a purple and orange butterfly over my heart for a dear love that I lost to cancer, etc. As to how much it hurts, that depend on a few things. People don't all respond to pain the same way, so know yourself. If a headache or menstral cramps lay you up, that's a bad sign. I could barely feel the one on my back, but one on my ankle was almost more than I could bear. Also, make sure you do your research and go to an artist with a gentle hand. If he drags the needle through your skin or goes too deep, the color could all bleed out or you could be left with ugly scars. The last two words of advice I have for you are don't just do it to stick it to your parents or something and think carefully about how it will affect your life in the future. There are not a lot of employers out there that appreciate body art, so something that would be under your clothes is a pretty safe bet. Good luck!!

As an employer, the first thing I look for is tattoos. If an applicant has one, the application goes straight into the circular file. Reply:My answer to you is this: wait. If you are unsure right now of what you want, listen and research ideas, but wait it out a little. I hear a lot of stories from friends who get tattoos without really thinking it through, and they end up not liking them. And usually end up covering it up with a new design.

Personally, I wanted a tattoo whenI was a teenager (maybe 16) but I didn't get my first one until I was 22 maybe older. Even more, I designed my own tattoo a whole year before I actually got it. If you're an artist (or have drawing abilities), you kind of have a nice little advantage, where your tatt can literally be you own (that's what I love about mine). Otherwise, it is also a great idea to come up with a concept and bring it to your would be tattoo artist who can draw it out for you. Or, find pictures to help him/her along (however, I don't believe in stealing other people's tatts...besides, who wants something someone else already has.) Bottom line, think of the things that mean most to you or things that define who you are. Research symbolism if you're having a hard time...there are a lot of symbols out there that may represent you.

As for placement...there are employers who look down upon it, and you need to decide for yourself whether or not that bothers you. Tattoos are still very much a taboo (unfortunately). So getting it in a discreet place may be optimal if you're unsure.

As for the pain factor...it's relative to each person. You won't know until you get one for yourself.

That drug store had marble top counters and round tall seats with red leather tops that would spin, and as kids we used to spin on them as fast as we could and drive Mr. Ward crazy. He had to finally make a rule that he wouldn't serve us if we were spinning. When eight of us would all get spinning it would make an awful racket!

I am actually in the market for purchasing new artwork for my home. I have recently remodeled and my prior artwork , vases, statuary, etc., just don't blend with the new surroundings.

Basically, what makes me buy something is the emotion it creates in my heart. I love colours and use of shadows. I also love landscapes. If I view a painting and it takes my breath away (which some florals have done) I will consider buying it.

Hi there!

I want to give the guest tables at my wedding reception names instead of numbers but am not sure what names to give them.

I am trying to choose between two lists - flowers and places in Paris. My fiance and I went to Paris late last year and it was just the best time for us, really special and we think of our trip all the time and have photos of it eveywhere. I have thought of 8 (no. of guest tables) places in Paris that we went to:

1. Versailles

2. Notre-Dame

3. The Louvre

4. Arc de Triomphe

5. Eiffel Tower

6. Champs Elysees

7. Place de la Concorde

8. Sacre-Coeur

But nothing else in the wedding is to do with this so would it go? Or else I will name tables after flowers:

1. Rose

2. Lily

3. Gardenia

4. Orchid

5. Tulip

6. Peony

7. Lisianthus

8. Frangipani

So please tell me which list I should use for the table names. Also, if you have any other ideas, feel free to share! Thanks heaps.

It doesn't really matter if the names "go" with the rest of the wedding or not. They mean something to you and the groom %26amp; that's all that matters. I love that idea; I would do Paris!

You could tell the guests what they mean to you in a speech or toast if you wanted to.

Reply:1 - i never liked assigned seating at receptions - it seems like too much work to figure it all out to me - but hey it's your call.

2 - i like the flowers - you could also have the centerpieces have that tables' flower name in it. (also have a card for those of us not flower geniuses)

3 - my friend just went to a wedding were it was movies on the table that the couple went on dates to see. then the couple got the DVDs for their collection. it was interesting to see what movies he talked her into and vice versa. it also sparked conversation "hey i saw this" or "i actually saw that at a drive in"

Reply:The Paris list is a great idea! Especially given the sentimental meaning to you guys. My friend got married a few months back and is very much into poetry -- she named tables after her favorite poets. She had the last names on one side, and her favorite poem by the author on the other side. Great conversational piece for those at the table who perhaps did not know each other very well.
Reply:I would go with the places you visited and at each table get a fancy picture frame with a black n white photo from each of the places! a smaller matching photo frame with the name written in fancy writting to set infront of that and cascade your flowers behind and arouns them!

Reply:The flowers...simply because you want table names really easy to pronounce and remember. Usually a single word, sometimes two.

I'm French so saying stuff like Sacre-Coeur is really easy for me but for most may be a mouthfull. It could be really great if you just changed some of the harder to pronounce ones. And, unless you got engaged there, met there...something like that I don't think your guests are going to get why you picked those locations.

I love the beach and I want my bedroom to have a beach style to it.

I have been working on my room and I'm getting a nice a style to it. I have pale yellow walls and brownish carpet so I'm using pale yellows, pinks, blues and browns as my colours. I also have heaps of frangipani stuff which loves nicely.

Is there anything else I could do to make my room look better?

Reply:You can use some hanging beach lamps made of tie dyed fabric or even a nice bamboo accent chair would suit well, you can also add some marine tea light candle holders (white) made of porcelain, like a starfish an urchin a shell, it would help make your room a Little cozy. And you can also add some indoor plants like an orchid plant(phalanopsis) would do well.
Reply:Search and find the types of beach themes you want to add. I found a great lifeguard chair lamp for one of my guest rooms, use cool beachy colors, and if you are up for it, do a mural. Murals can be done by renting a projection and drawing a theme to be painted on the wall. Create a beach corner if you have the room with some sand and a little chair and table. The sky's the limit. Just keep it open and airy.
Reply:Buy a few of glass vases, different sizes and varying heights. Fill them with sand, small sea shells or maybe even both. (You can usually find shells at a craft store.) I've seen vases filled with sand with a candle in the middle too. Arrange the various vases in any combo you like. Place them on your dresser, on a small shelf or on a table or nightstand.

Try small wooden picture frames and paint them white. Glue a small sea shell or starfish in the corner for a decorative accent.

You might be able to find posters or paintings of the shoreline or oceanfront to frame and hang. For a splash of color, you may even be able to find pictures of tropical fish to frame.

For more ideas, visit a seafood restaurant and check out the way it is decorated inside. Fisherman's nets and ropes, surf boards and tiki torches come to mind. Use your imagination.

I want to get a small tattoo of a Ulysses butterfly sitting on a pink frangipani flower, because I live in North Queensland (aus) and am about to go overseas for a long time, so this reminds me of home. I've never had a tattoo before and am worried about how much it will hurt. I am thinking of getting it on my lower back, because people have told me it doesn't hurt much there, and I don't have a lot of heavily padded flesh to work with aside from my butt, and I don't want to get it there. Any advice/comments?

I don't really like tattoo's on girls. But if you get one you should think about it for alonggg time because your going to have it forever. If it is that special to you then...well..i guess get it. Reply:Because of the detail and the obvious meaning, it seems that you are sure of what you want. It doesnt matter if it's a "nice" tattoo for a girl, because people's opinions vary. Some people will say no one should get a tattoo, or girls shouldnt get tattoos, or tattoos with butterflies are too common. Most people would say don't get the tattoo on your lower back; I'm inclined to agree because that is often considered a "tramp stamp", but if you want it there, go for it. If you are only picking the location based on level of pain, reconsider. The pain level is different for each person, some people think it hurts like hell, some think it tickles, and some dont feel it at all. It also depends on your tattoo artist, they are not all equal. Because this is your first tattoo, you will have nothing to compare the pain to, so get it whereever you want it, and if you decide to get a second one you will know how much you can bear.
Reply:it sounds pretty to me. Don't listen to people who tell you not to get one. Tattoos are beautiful and meaningful to the people who have them. I have never regretted my tattoo. As long as it means something to you, I doubt you'll regret it either.

As for placement, a lot of girls go for the lower back. In honesty, while some places hurt more than others, it's going to hurt either way. You might want to consider your back, neck, ankle, etc

Everyone handles pain differently. It depends on how big the piece is and where you're getting it. I would describe being tattooed as a hard, constant vibration that burns a little. After five minutes it becomes painless because your endorphins kick in. Get your tattoo where ever you want it. I think lower back tattoos are very pretty. So I say go for it. i would absolutely love to have plumeria (frangipani) flowers for my beach wedding. they're only grown in hawaii, and i'm not sure if they can ship them over. i tried emailing and calling a florist in hawaii, but didn't get a response. my wedding will be in st. pete beach, florida. any ideas?

Lots of florists can get plumerias, especially from California. They don't have to come from Hawaii which will cost more in postage. Call your local florists and out of the ones that tell you they will have no problems getting plumerias, find at least 3 to have in person consultations with :-) Good luck!

Reply:I live in Hawaii and of all the flower shops that I've been to... None of the them carry plumerias because they are so abundant (the plumeria trees grow along the roads). Plumerias are very fragile and when damaged they turn brown. (I've made leis to take with me to California). Your best bet might be to actually get plumerias made out of clay (they look real and just as beautiful as the real thing).

BUT if you're dead set on getting real plumerias, try Watanabe Floral. The phone number of the main store is 808-832-9360. The hours of operation are Mon - Sat 6:30 am - 6:30 pm. Watanabe Florals are pretty well known on Oahu for their reasonable prices and wide variety of flowers.

Phosphorus?
Get any plant food with a higher middle number (i.e. 15-30-10). The first number is the amount of nitrogen, the second is phosphorous, and third represents potassium. Nitrongen is is for leaves, phosphorous for fruits and flowers, potassium is for root strength.

Any good gardening site should be able to go into more detail.
Reply:you must have been told wrong or misheard them. I am certain you do not want phosphorous. Phosphates, maybe but not phosphorous.

Almost any florist should be able to do it for you... If they don't have frangipani, they're usually able to order them in or source them for you, so that shouldn't be a problem.

I would go through a bigger company like FTD or something, because they can deliver worldwide.

I used them all the time to have flowers delivered to my dad in California. ( I live in Australia) I did it all online btw.... and they were fantastic about showing me the plants or flowers that they were delivering.

I live in Brisbane, and have 2 big frangipani trees arching toward a wall. The grass species in the rest of the garden doesn't grow in this spot. I want to put in stepping stones with grass around them, as a little path. Does anyone know a species of grass that can thrive with a lot of shade and some falling leaves in autumn?

Can anyone recommend a lawn species for a shady spot?
There is no true shade grass; all grasses like some sun. However, the best of the bunch that can get along with less sun than the rest is Poa trivialis. Kentucky 31 tall fescue, Zoysia, Japonica, Zoysia matrella, Astoria bent, Highland and Penncross bents, as well as creeping red, Illahee, and Chew-lugs fescue, all will tolerate light shade.

Reply:I'm in north Texas, not sure how the climate compares to Brisbane (USDA zone 7), and we use St. Augustine under our trees. It does rather well. It also does pretty well in sunny spots, too, and will crowd out other turfgrasses if given a chance.

What about a groundcover instead of a turf grass? Mondo grass, liriope, vinca, asian jasmine - we see a lot of those under our shade trees here, maybe there's something comparable that you can use there. Good luck!
Reply:Yes, there is a true shade grass, in North Texas, Fescue, grows great and at it's best in the shade. You have to re-seed every couple years, cause it does not re-seed it's self!
Reply:Most of the time it has nothing to do with shade...but the condition of soil in the area. Check the Ph...most of the time it is too acidic...so raise the Ph with some lime.

Also if you water the area more...this dilutes the acid and allows grass to grow in that shady area. The shady areas are always under the umbrella part of tree...so water sheds off to outer areas which doesn't allow water near center to help the soil.

There is a bus stop at Mount Vernon that I'm told is haunted. For non-Singapore residents, Mount Vernon is a road between two cemeteries. A Christian one, on one side, and a Muslim one, on the other.

Why I say it's haunted? Well, I've been in many taxis and when the drivers are talkative, they most likely will tell you this story when you ask them about ghostly encounters. They say, if you travel through mount Vernon Road between midnight and 4am - if you are lucky - you will see a beautiful young Malay mother with a baby in her arms.

One time, there was an ignorant taxi driver who happened to pick her up. She boarded the taxi and just pointed ahead without saying a word. So, the driver drove on ahead. After some minutes, he asked her where she wanted to go, but she just smiled and instructed him, with a hand gesture, to go straight ahead. Mount Vernon is a long stretched road and as the taxi approached the end of it, at the junction, he asked her, again, where exactly she wanted to go. She simply replied, "balik rumah"(going home). He was a little annoyed by her ambiguous reply and made his impatience felt with his next remark. He complaint. "Ya lah, lu mau balik rumah, mana lu punya rumah lu misti cakap lah, ayah susah lah ini macam".(Yes, I know you want to go home but where the heck is your home? Gosh, you’re giving me a hard time!).

She was hurt and started sobbing. Feeling guilty, he apologised then asked her again, nicely that time, what her address was. She then asked to be taken back to the place she boarded his taxi.

The irate driver was furious and made an angry, sharp, U-turn and headed the other way back to the spot he picked her up from.

Busy nagging, he failed to realise that she was no longer seated in the back seat. When he did look in the mirror, he was horrified by her non-presence. Then, he smelt a sweet smelling scent of frangipani flower. (This flower is associated with death.) He was chilled to the bones with fear and sped off out of Mount Vernon Road all the way home. He never traveled along Mount Vernon Road after midnight anymore since the experience.

Other taxi drivers have also picked up the mother with a child but had different experiences with her. Some would realise immediately after she came aboard that she was a ghost, some would not even notice anything strange until they smelt a sweet scent – then on, a cool head is very necessary.

i believe in spirits/ghosts and demons. it can be a scary moment when u see one, but normally spirits are harmless. some spirits just do the same thing over and over again every day. some spirits notice ur there and like to have fun scaring u lol. demons are horrible, if u run into a demon, u will never forget it. it could haunt u for years, u have to b careful.

ive never had any experiences with either, thats probably a good thing lol. the only thing ive ever noticed was feeling like i was being watched. but that could just b my mind playing tricks on me, or a high level of energy in that certain spot.

i dont think i would ever want to go by cemetaries at night, even before i heard this.

I need to contact Yahoo re: billing error. I have two (2) charges on my bank acct. of $19.99 each which I talked to Yahoo yesterday and they assured me one charge of $19.99 was cancelled. Today there is another charge of $19.99 plus the one they supposedly cancelled.These are fraudulent charges. I never made them - they are listed as Yahoo Mail and $1.00 charge for Yahoo Wallet. I have not used my Yahoo web-site in more than 6 months and the e-mail was cancelled due to non-use. These charges are not mine and please cancel them. What is the best potting mix that can be made at home, I know a lot of people will have there own secret mixture, but I will be planting Golden Cane, Triangle Palms, Frangipani, Fox Tails, just finished building my shade house and hot house, thanks for any replies.

Potting soils are generally a combination of peat moss, perlite and vermiculite. Depending on the plant being started sand is sometimes added, some mixtures contain a slow release fertilizer. Some garden centers carry comercial potting mixes in large bales at a reasonable cost- you migth want to start with one of those and if you feel the need tweak it with some compost or whatever else you feel your specific plants need,

Reply:I'm not lazy but I prefer to buy mypotting mix from professional greenhouses or businesses. That way there are no "germs" in the soil. Two bushel bags are not expensive and it is the same mix they use so I know it is right for my climate and needs.
Reply:Secret recipe potting mixes are fun, but a lot of work. I like Miracle Gro mix. I add peat or sphagnum moss and vermiculite to increase the yield. Proportions? Gee, I never measured....something like 2 parts potting mix, 1 part moss, 1 part vermiculite.

If you plan on having more kids maybe have a flower for each child with their name in the petals. maybe have some sort of vine with the flowers growing from it. it will be pretty and dainty, have a meaning, and you would have no problem keeping the flow going if you have more children.

Ok, i'm getting married next year and i've just been doing some research so far, i want frangipani (Plumeria) for my wedding flowers, but i can't seem to find a florist that sell real flowers, they are all silk frangipanis, are they difficult to sell as real flowers?

The problem with having frangipanis in wedding bouquets is that these flowers are not naturally long stemmed, they have very short stems. This means to put them in a bouquet, the florist would have to attach wire stems to all flowers to bunch them all together. Because of all the work involved in this, some florists may not want to offer them as wedding flowers as they may not want to do the work required.

If you dont feel up to asking someone who owns a tree if you can have some of their flowers (most people would be more than happy to help you, even if they dont know you!) then you could always buy your own tree :o) I did that for my lilys %26amp; not only were they beautiful fresh flowers but they cost me next to nothing!

1 has plenty of leaves but no flowers, the other has 1 clump of flowers but leaves have grown but have not opened properly. This one was OK last year. Any suggestions?

This is the time of the year when frangipanis act different. Some flower only, some get leaves and no flowers. Some times the same tree acts different each year. Not sure why, but my oldest tree is 30 years old. It acts a little different each year. This year no leaves and several clumps of flowers. We have had more rain than normal this year.
Reply:It is not unusual for flowers to bloom before leaves appear as such the case with rubra varieties, but with obtusa it should not lose it leaves in a temperate climate and should bloom year around, depending on where you live. Main causes of leafing difficulties are leaf disfigurement, it happens when the plant is stressed, as for the one fully leaved it needs a lot of sunlight and a high phosphorus content in the soil before it will bloom, the root structure needs to be optimal. If climate allows, get them out of the pots and put them in the ground, they are not being fed in pots, if not, put them in bigger pots to allow for better root development and more soil nutrient stability.

They will only survive in sheltered area with lots of sun also they will do not like a lot of frost ,however in Sydney they survive a few days frost each year ,as far as transporting over the border I am not really sure ,but wouldn,t it be easier to buy them from a nursery near you .

i have some frangipani seeds and i just dont know where to start.

i have put some in little pots before and my mum told me they need lots of water but i did some research and i found they dont need alot of water at all (explains why nothing happened with them)

i dont have a green thumb at all but would love to eventually have one. ive read somewhere before someone got cotton buds put water on them and then the seed and put them in a dark place to make them sprout before planting. i just dont want to waste my seeds.

also if anyone could tell me how to grow fox glove from seeds i would be so much appreciative to them.

Frangipani are hardy and forgiving plants which seem to thrive on neglect. However, given regular watering and a fertilizer high in nitrogen, potassium and phosphorous, during the flowering season, they will reward you with more plentiful flowers which are bigger and stronger in colour.

Six hours direct sunlight daily is required for optimum / maximum flowering. Frangipani's are very drought, salt and fire tolerant plants. They respond well to pruning and grow well in large pots. Do not water in winter once established.

Leaves can be affected by fungus, mould and rust. If needed are best sprayed with a copper based fungicide and whiteoil solution.

**Frangipani: The Perfect Flower for Australia's Gardens**

Inextricably linked to the tropics Plumeria are now being successfully grown in all parts of Australia except the Alpine zones.

Frangipani will grow well in any soil type but prefer a well drained soil. They will grow in all climates except the severe frost prone temperate climates. They prefer and grow best in a hot dry climate. They are very drought and fire hardy. Therefore they well suited to the Australian climate.

**Frangipani: Fertilizing Tips**

It is best to keep your frangipani dry during the cooler months. Frangipani respond best to organic fertilizers which are high in N.P.K. They love animal manure, fire ash and compost. The best potting mix is any commercial potting mix with 30% sand and some slow release fertilizer added.

**Frangipani: How to Prune**

The trees respond very well to pruning and can be kept at a preferred size with regular pruning. Different pruning approaches can be used to create a compact, densely branched tree or a standard topiary shrub style with long trunk and no lower branches. To create a densely branched specimen prune branches to one half or one third of their natural length.

These pruned branches will sprout multiple branches near the pruned ends. To prune to produce no branches simply prune branches right back to the main trunk so that no further branching can occur.

**A Well Nourished Plant is a Healthy Plant**

Avoid fungal infections by using foliar fungicide sprays. A mixture of powdered milk powder and white oil or detergent has been proven to be most effective against rust and powdery mildew. Keeping plants well nourished helps prevent fungal infections.

**Useful Tips for Frangipani Propagation**

Propagation of frangipani is usually from cuttings, which should be dried out for one week in shade then planted directly into ground or pots of sand. Water only once per fortnight until roots have developed. Breeders also propagate from seeds or by grafting or air layering.

Frangipanis are relatively easy to grow from cuttings, something I have done successfully for a number of years.

First off, ensure the tree you will take the cutting from is n good health, and has enough branches so that cutting one will not spoil the tree's shape or growth potential.

The branch you cut should not be flowering, and should be a decent length ~ no less than about 20 cms (7-8 inches).

Once the branch is cut, leave it in a cool, dry place for about a week. Do NOT stand it in water or soil during this time.

If you are transplanting to a pot, you need a good soil mix, not too heavy, and free draining. Frangipanis don't like 'wet feet', so don't use a saucer under the pot. For best results, raise the pot off the groundwith a couple of pavers or bricks, so there is plenty of air circulation underneath the base.

If planting into the ground, clear an area about 30 cms (12 inches) around of grass and dig your hole in a location that gets full sun most of the day. Frangipanis like to get heat from the earth, so make sure the area around the frangipani is well mulched (but nothing should touch the plant itself.

After the branch dries out for a week or so, put it in the prepared pot or in the earth, and water in well. If transplanting to a pot, remember to put it in a sunny spot.

The plant will need regular watering for several weeks until it begins to 'take'. You will be able to tell this as the branch will begin the plump out, and leaves may begin to appear at the tip of the branch.

Once the plant is established, you can reduce the watering back to once a week or so.

Frangipanis do tak a little time to establish, but by next season you should have a beautiful new frangipani tree, and some lovely, fragrant blossoms.

Frangipani easily grows from cuttings...take 30 to 40 cm cuts from a fork of the tree...do not touch the sap that will weep from the cutting...leave for a couple of days...plant in a sunny position about 15cm deep...give it some food %26amp; a little water then forget it! ( note ) Frangipani is a tree and can grow quite large.

Reply:my mother in law says to just shove a cutting in the ground and will eventually root and grow. i have always been taught to put a cutting in a bucket of water for a week or so - keep topping up the water every couple of days - and when you can see little roots starting to grow from the cut then put it in the ground. this one has worked for me in the past however i havnt tried frangipanis though.

This stuff works great on ants as well. You can get it at Lowes or Home Depot for about $10. I use it on my blooming orchids with no damage to the flowers. I like this stuff as it takes out a wide variety of pests and you have no phytotoxic (Burning) to your plants.

The only tree i can help you with is the frangipani. Just break off a branch, and stick it in a pot full of potting mix. I have been told to dry the frangipani out first but they take just as well when you dont. Happy Gardening.
Reply:Yes you can double the fern and frangipani but i have never heard that you could a palm tree. For the frangipani just break it off and stick it in soil. The Fern you need to break off some of it and stick it in water and let the roots start to grow then plant it.

It does not take very long for them to start growing again.

It is also known to nursery people as Plumeria. It is a tropical that has been cultivated into a wide variety of colors and is quite common here in Florida. It loses its' leaves in the winter for a short period. It can be shipped as dried canes and is relatively easy to grow here. The International Plumeria Society is at www. plumeria.org

Easy done. I use these allot in landscaping. I am in Melb Aust, these plants grow in queensland etc. Firstly try to grow in pots its easier. Place them in a very sunny warm position preferably with a brick wall behind them. This will heat up and protect them from overnight cold. In winter you can cut the plant off at the base plus cut any long branches that have developed, rare in these plants as they grow slow in cold climates. These branches can be prepared for storage and will have lost most foliage. remove any left and wrap in newspaper. Once the temp comes back up you can re strike them in a sandy potting mix and off you got again. Alot of work. Easier is bringing them indoors in their pots and placing in a warm humid area. Try to avoid rapid changes in heat. Not too near heating but not near windows that will get cold overnight. Finally I have grow these outdoors throughout the year but not if you get freezes as this will kill them. The best spot outdoors are very sheltered with as much sunlight as possible particulary morning sun to expell the cold from the night.
Reply:I live in Central Florida and growing frangipani-- also known as plumeria-- is one of my hobbies. Here it is simple to start them. We just remove some of the canes, let them dry for a couple of weeks and then put them in pots and water well for awhile. Once they have taken root we transfer them to the ground or give them to friends. Or, just stick the canes in the ground and water.

Of course, if you are in a climate that freezes or comes near freezing, you will want to grow yours in a large pot on a rolling tray and give it Neptune organic liquid fertilizer.

Move it into a warmer area where it can get some natural sunlight. This plant goes dormant during the winter so don't worry about it when it loses all of its leaves as it is desiduous. In fact, many of mine will get a bloom head on them before they get leaves, in the early spring.

Down here, these plants can turn into large trees if the canes aren't selectively removed.

This plant can also produce seed pods--but rooting the canes is easiest.

Take a cutting about half length of your arm..let it dry out in the sun, until cut end is calloused over,take cut end,,put in a pot of good drainage growing soil and in the spring youll have a nice plant. This is for four season areas.

If you are in a tropical climate you can do the same thing but plant it in a nice spot in the ground,surrounded by other flowers and plants.

These plants dont do well trying to root in water. More

Reply:Frangipanis are easy hon. Take a cutting of oh 8 inches long. Put in the garden where you would like to put the new tree. Lay it flat on the ground and cover it over with light soil and light garden mulch. Water and leave new growth with come up through your layer. I dont know if this is true but I know I had to grow my pinks in one end of the garden and whites the other cause if grown together the coloured ones turn white.....

Reply:My Nonno has one a tall as his house. The flowers do smell beautiful and can com in white , white %26amp; pink, or white %26amp; yellow/orange. I noticed the soil at the base was very dark and moist. And in the past i think he had a compost next to it. I don't think he ever trimmed it either.Try those for an idea.

If you have Frangipani Rust (Coleosporium domingense syn C. plumeriae), a fungal disease, you could try this:

Non-chemical:

- Prune out and destroy infected and dead wood during the dormant season.

- Rake up and destroy all dead leaves.

- Removing infected leaves early in the season may be effective in some home gardens.

- When applicable, remove alternate hosts growing in the near vicinity.

I know that it is good to keep flowers in the refridgerator some times but they should be covered.

here are basic instructions:

A food refrigerator cools the air by pulling moisture out; this is bad for fresh flowers, especially roses. Here are some things you can do to prolong the life of the roses and still use the refrigerator. When you buy the roses, bring them home immediately. Time spent in a hot or cold car and not in water will reduce the life of the flowers.

Next, be sure you have an ample amount of fresh flower preservative. Buy enough concentrate or powder to make several gallons of floral preservative mixture. A few packets won't be enough. Then, fill a basin or sink with warm (about room temperature) water. Prepare a vase or other storage container with a measured amount of floral food and warm (room temperature) water. It is important to measure the water and follow the directions on the floral food container. Too much preservative is as bad as too little in the solution.

Strip or peel off any leaves that may fall below the water line. You don't need to remove all the leaves, just any that might get into the solution. Then, using a sharp knife or pruners, cut off the bottom inch or so off the stem while hold the bottom 3" under water in the sink or basin. Put the rose stem into the storage container.

Once you've prepared all the roses this way, put a dry cleaning bag around the flower heads (to keep in moisture). Don't spray them with water or you may get spots on the petals. Then, put the whole lot into the refrigerator set to a temperature between 40°F to 42°F. They should be in prime condition for the next day. Be sure to clean out the water and use fresh water mixed with preservative to replenish storage containers the next day.

The person you buy your flowers from should give you instructions too.

Frangipani are usually very hard and not prone to the insects and diseases like some plants. Ordinairly I would believe it's a matter of poor drainage.

Frangipanis normally drop their leaves in the fall (they are deciduous). If you are in the southern hemisphere that would explain the leaf drop, which might be accompanied by some leaf spotting as the leaves senesce.

If you have a tree starting to sprout out new leaves for spring, and they are spotting and falling off, the plant could have gotten a touch of cold, or you may have salt build-up in the soil. Salt build up is most commonly caused by over- fertilizing, but can be caused, over time, by not watering thoroughly enough for water to run out of the drain holes in the bottom of the pot. This can be quickly corrected by watering the plant repeatedly (5 or 6 times) so that water flows freely out of the bottom of the pot several times. Good luck.

For now to take care of your Frangipani that in a pot is to water it deeply, but infrequently, let soil dry out somewhat before watering again.

Begin to reduce the frequency of watering in mid April, as the cool season approaches.

Stop watering after all the leaves have fallen and the plant has gone dormant. Resume watering in the spring as new growth begins.

Frangipani should be fed with a high nitrogen fertilizer beginning in spring when growth begins.

To encourage the most blooms a switch to a high phosphorous fertilizer in early November and fertilize every 2 to 3 weeks through the end of Febuary.

You need to dry it out for a few days.

It doesnt matter if it has one stem or several

Use a general purpose Aussie standard potting mix.

Leave the leaves on but take flowers off.

Water a little bit when you first put it in the soil, then water it 1-2 times a week.

Reply:Plumeria's are a cinch to propagte. My son and I have grown many over the past three years. We always start with a 8-10 inch cutting and dip the cutting in Rootone, a hormonal powder that helps cuttings establish without rotting. We take the cuttings directly to the new pot and bury it about 3-4 inches deep in a good greenhouse quality potting soil. If there are leaves, they can be left-normal drying will cause the weaker ones to drop. Water thoroughly with tepid water until excess pours from the bottom of the pot. Water only after the soil has had a chance to dry completely. You should see new sprouts forming within a 2 week period. Keep it exposed to morning sunlight but shaded during the heat of the day. I have 2 plants that will go through the same propagation in the spring time. From one plant, I will get about 10-12 plants. I always cut them with one stalk. They will almost invariably form a tripod head. Good luck and remember not to let them stay wet. They should dry between waterings. Good luck.

I have a healthy FrangiPani (white flower) in my yard from which I took 2-3 stems for transplanting elsewhere. New plants wilted and drooped immediately and now sport curled up, black leaves. Are they dead? Should I wait to see what happens? Is this transplant trauma or doomsday? HELP!

I've been reading this book Frangipani by Celestine Vaite and in it somewhere she mentioned that in Tahiti you would wear the frangipani flower behind one ear to signify you're taken and the other to say you're looking/single. But I can't remember which ear was which. I've been Googling it for a while and I get mixed reports of what ear means what. Growing Frangipani From Seed?

Does anyone have any ideas for growing Frangipani Seeds? I have been trying to grow some for a while now without success. They sprout out the bottom and that is as far as I get.

I have tried with combinations of Perlite/Sand and Potting Mix.

I live in NSW Australia if that effects anything.

Growing Frangipani From Seed?
Here are some tips for growing Frangipani from seeds:

Growing Medium:

Use a mixture of 60% Peat and 40% Perlite on silica sand. Or use a high quality soil-less mix. Asterile medium that retains moisture and provides good drainage is needed for best results

Sowing Preperation:

To jump-start the germination process, place the seeds in a moist, warm environment for 12 to 24 hours prior to sowing. An easy way to achieve this is to place the seeds between moistened paper towels in a 5cm deep glass baking dish, cover with plastic and place in a warm area 26 - 32*C if possible. After this the thicker end of the seed should be noticeably swollen.

Sowing Method:

Choose a planting container with at least 8 - 10cm deep. Fill with pre-moistened growing medium make a small hole and gently push seed 5mm vertically into medium, firm soil against side of the seed. The seeds wing should be sticking straight up. Cover container with a domed lid and place where it can maintain a temperature of 26 - 32*C and receive bright light but not full sun. DO NOT LET SOIL DRY OUT.

The seeds will take 7 to 30 days to germinate. Any signs of mold during the germination should be immediately treated with a fungicide.

Transplanting:

Once the seedling have developed their second set of true leaves they can be transplanted, begin feeding with a high nitrogen fertilizer and gradually move into stronger sunshine.

I am sure that you will get lovely Frangipani plants after folowwing these tips.

Reply:I don't know . but maybe you would need bought ones as these would be coated with a fungicide. Frangipanis grow very easily from a cutting just take a nice straight branch and put straight into the soil. keep it watered until it gets established

Reply:flowers kind-of tubular, white and fragrant [usually] = classical moth pollination. It is highly unlikely that this kind of flower would be pollinated by an animal and impossible that it could be wind-pollinated.

Frangipani and root rot?

I have a frangipani, about 10-12 yrs old and has done quite well in the past but it seems to be dying of root rot does anyone know how to heal this?

Frangipani and root rot?
Is your frangipani on a bit of a hill or mound? If not, you could consider transplanting to a higher spot in your yard or digging a trench aroung the base of it that entends down near the roots and filling that with peat moss, mulch and/or rocks to help with drainage. You should also check to see that there are no old roots left from previous plants as they can contribute to molds. If they are present, clear then away as best as possible and let the area air out before refilling. In the future check an area for those leftover root systems and clean them out before planting. Is it true that when you plant seeds from a frangipani, you may not get a tree the with the same coloured flowers as the one the seeds came from, if this is correct could someone please explain to me why. I have seeds from a blood red one that I wish to grow, I was also lucky enough to get 45 cuttings also.

Frangipani seeds?
It is true. The reason for this is that if the tree is in the vicinity of a frangipani with a different coloured flower they may be cross-pollinated. If the tree from which your seeds were harvested, is in an area where the majority or all the trees have blood red flowers your chances of getting just red flowered trees from those seeds are very high. Reply:Good question. I have never even seen seeds from a Plumeria(where I am no one calls them Frangipani). Usually the flower stem just falls off after flowering. I think cuttings are the best way to propagate them. And they do well from cuttings.

Okay, I just found a seller in Australia selling seeds. So, I guess you can get seed from them. They say they are true to seed. So, there ya go. Try both :-) Good luck.
Reply:yes, it is true. seeds are required to have diversity i.e. different from mother plant. how do u think so many colours have come from. the plant derived from cuttings(vegetative propagation) is usually same as the mother. you are definately lucky to have seeds, are they on the tree in pods? if so put a tread around so they dont fly off from the pod. the seeds sown will take some time to grow and flower for u to know which colour it is. you might be lucky enough to have a totally different variety with a beautiful colour.
